Early Bloomers
Learn More + PurchaseIt's important to have some spring flowers to provide food sources for early-emerging bees. These wonderful crocus tommasinianus, also known as "snow crocus" are the earliest crocus to flower in late winter/very early spring. Pick a spot where they're even mildly happy and they'll naturalize in your garden for years. Win-win!

Winter Sowing
Learn MoreIt's time to start planting! Every year, I get a jumpstart on the season by winter sowing cool weather vegetables like lettuce, kale, arugula, mustard greens and spinach. Seeds are planted in late January in gallon milk jug containers, then put outdoors in a sunny spot. The seeds germinate when they're ready. After a couple weeks, you're ready to plant.
